RIDGELEY DEVELOPMENT INFORMATION(from Scott Ashton)
Hello Everyone:
There was a meeting this morning with BRE (the owners of the lot on Wilshire, between Hauser and 8th), Legacy (the owners of the lot where Sav-On used to be located and The Desmond's building), and Carolyn Ramsay (field deputy officer for city councilman Tom LaBonge) In regards to shutting down Ridgeley Dr.
In the next few days it will be closed starting at the alley to Wilshire for approximately two years.? Until it closes, even though there are parking meters with the heads cut off, you still can be ticketed during the day. When the street closure takes place, the street will remain open from the alley to 8th, and the street parking will still be as is, and we will have access to our driveways.
Carolyn and I got Legacy to replace the 11 metered spaces that will be blocked with 11 spaces? in the lot behind the Desmond's building. I'm assuming they will only be available from 6pm - 9am.? If you leave your car there, you will be charged an hourly rate, or may be towed,? that is up for the parking lot attendant and Legacy Partners to decide.? Hollywood Video,? Kinko's and Ace Gallery have been allocated spaces during normal hours and those space must be open for their use.
This solution is primarily intended for the resident's north of Wilshire who cross the street in search of parking at night.? The good thing about this, is that people coming in from out of the area to patronize the El Rey, or Ralph's will not know about these open spaces, but they are on a first come first serve basis.? I'm sure Legacy will update us on how/where the spaces will be marked or located for our use.
I thank Carolyn, BRE, and Legacy for keeping us informed and thanks to David Takemoto for agreeing so quickly on coming up with a solution that helps to alleviating the parking issues we face while Ridgeley is closed.
Sincerely,
Scott Ashton
